I had a used one made in '87 a few years back and put it it my little storage area in the woods after using it for 5 months because i just couldn't stand how small the capacity was and how it had a terrible time rolling over jeans, it sounded as if the transmission was grinding its gears trying to turn over a load of jeans and t-shirts...whenever a few pairs of jeans got to the top of the agitator it splashed and sounded really weak as if it was having a hard time getting the jeans to the bottom of the agitator, drove me crazy! and it also did this thing when it got to the spin cycle when it first started spinning like a loud squeaking/squealing sound, i thought it must have needed new belts but it was a really heavy machine and my laundry room was in a tight space so i said the hell with fixing it, it would probably still sound weak while washing jeans like it usto so I went and bought a new 2008 Frigidaire top loader with the rotating drum and straight vane agitator, although it did not have the fastest turnover it always managed to get jeans clean without making a racket or splashing, and the capacity was among one of the biggest top loaders i had ever seen! now that i think of it it was almost as good as the speed queens everyone brags about, and it only costed me $400 in Canada! in December 2011 the pump went out in it and i sold it for parts or repair, never found out if the people who bought it stripped it out for parts or fixed it.I have a tendency to sell appliances that have minor easy to repair problems.....
