Maytag Jetclean Plus Dishwasher issue resolved!!

Finally I figured out what the problem was with this thing! It used to surge while recirculating the water in the cycle, on any cycle and we thought it was because it was under filling, so the past few weeks Ive had to add a gallon of water to the tub every time it filled. The surging sound went away when I added water.

So before wasting a dime on a new water inlet valve, I tried one thing, and that was testing the level of the dishwasher to make sure its perfectly level to the floor. And it wasn't, I raised it quite a bit, and it works perfectly now. It was that simple, I didn't believe it.

So far the only issues we've had with this dishwasher are problems we caused by us, lol!

Bottom line is that it works perfectly. Also the white film inside is almost gone, I do need to run another cycle with citric acid but its almost 100% gone. It cleans much better than my old Hotpoint ever did, and gets much hotter!

Thank you everyone that gave me advice on what to do, definitely would have gone and wasted money on a part had I not gotten help. So thank you!

Funny. With most installations of DW I've seen, it was level enough to just raise the DW until it pressed flush with the countertop. But, we don't rely on timed fills here, so that might be a reason why...

That's awesome!!! You're going to love that machine. I absolutely loved my MDB4709. Yours is a bit fancier with the stainless steel interior and those sharp blue accent flip down racks. It'll be a fantastic machine for years to come.

and level the machine properly....

and it works like it should....

a shame someone didn't offer those suggestions....

could have been part of the seasonal change where the Earth tilts it's axis....

LOL!! I'm so glad you figured it out and I was of NO help because I'm not mechanically inclined at all. I won't dare install a dishwasher myself. The inside looks so GOOD I can't believe it. These do get HOT and use a lot of water if you want it. That's what I love about them. The jetclean with steam cycle on mine literally sounds like a hurricane inside compared to the other cycles. Reminds me so much of the older dishwashers in that aspect.

Nope, its surging again. Dammit. The surging isn't nearly as bad, and is barley noticeable at all, but I wonder if that surging is causing an uneven water flow inside, so I will be checking that. But the sound is not nearly as bad and it almost UN-noticeable. I don't know if that's normal, I have no clue if I should really be concerned.

So then it may possibly be the water valve, ugh.

It might be your detergent!

I have a 2004 Bosch which does not wash well with P&G's "Fairy" dishwasher detergents - these pod things. This detergent causes excess suds, and the motor to surge. You'll probably know it as "Cascade" in America.

With Fairy detergent in my Bosch, if the door is opened to add an item to the load during the wash, an airlock occurs and the machine does virtually nothing. The only way is to drain and start all over again. Other detergent brands seem to be less sudsy, and don't cause the same problem as readily.

What brand is it? What kind?
And WHEN in the cycle do you notice the surging sound?
Is it before or after the detergent cup trips?

<span style="font-family: courier new,courier;">I was having problems with my Kitchenaid foaming and surging using Cascade platinum.  I wrote to P&G and they suggested turning down the rinse-aid dispenser.  I turned it from two to one and the problem was eased. </span>

 

<span style="font-family: courier new,courier;">It appears that the Whirlpool clones, dispense rinse aid I the main wash as well as the final rinse.  That extra amount in the main wash paired with the surfactants in the pod was causing the foaming issue. </span>

I use Cascade complete powder, I only put it into the main cup and I fill it up entirely. It surges a little bit, but it doesn't surge very much. And there arent too many suds, but there are definitely suds in the water when it does surge.

It surges the entire cycle. Sometimes it's very melow sounding, sometimes a bit more rapid sounding.

I put a camera into the dishwasher today, ran it, everything inside is working perfectly, but you can still hear it surge. It cleans everything just fine and is at the correct water level as far as Im concerned.

Will it burn the motor out if It surges a little bit? When there's just straight up water with absolutely no sudsing of any kind in the tub, it wont surge at all. But at the same time when it does surge, there is some suds in the tub but not an excessive amount of suds.

Im actually running it through a cleaning cycle as we speak and the thing sounds like a hurricane!

So is it okay to keep running it the way it is if it surges a little bit, but opereates perfectly inside?

Hmmm, well if it's clean well and looking on video like everything has good pressure, maybe it's fine?
The motor will not burn up.

Is it possible, that extra rinse aid is leaking out of the dispenser?
Do you notice having to refill the rinse aid very frequently?

OH!

I remember using Finish Quantum when I got a sample pack of it. It foamed and made the dishwasher sound like it was laboring because of the excess foam it caused (and I have hard water)...This doesn't happen with Finish PowerBall

The previous owner had it full of rinse aid, I haven't had to refill it at all. Its on a pretty high setting as well because of our hard water. But like I said, it isnt over sudsing and I only use Cascade Complete powder, or even the liquid which doesn't suds a whole lot.

Maybe its another simple thing... Check if the faucet for the DW is 100% open. Maybe run the DW empty and check if there is any purging. Possibly different cycles or options.

With these kind of unspecific conditions it's hard to exactly be sure what the culprit is...

I have been using Cascade Complete Powder for ever. Hard Water and never had an issue. But all my machines date from 2004 back.

Just don't like the gel packs or gel liquid. Powders always serve me well whether it be Laundry or Dish Machine

I love the powder, its so inexpensive and I see no difference between the Complete Powder and the Platinum action pacs which are the most expensive kind on the market. I also use the liquid complete as well, and they both work perfect. No issues even with our hard water.

surging

Surging in my Maytag is eliminated by reducing the amount of soap. A former rep for P&G told me (and I sort of believed him) that the amount of soap required, where water is soft, is less than 1/4 what is commonly recommended. I use 1/3rd of one cup cup of of powder soap (the really cheap stuff)...........dishes come out clean and 'no surging'. Seems that suds are the problem? Curiously, surging was never a problem on the first cycle, so............. I don't get how the suds issue can relate to the second and third fills. Somehow, it seems to work that way. Thoughts??
