Maytag KDE 306

Hi all!

I’m a new member to this site and looking forward to hearing your expertise! I have a beautiful avocado green Maytag washer and dryer set that I acquired NOS and they’ve been working wonderfully for the last year.

However, recently my dryer motor went out. I really don’t want to have to toss it because I’ll never find another green one like it in my area. The model is KDE 306, I have a repairman willing to fix it but is unsure if there are compatible motors/where to find one. He also is looking for the wiring diagram for this model, if anyone has any insight.

I have the same Maytag 306 dryer but mine is in gas.

Maytag motor.

Hi I have a bunch of these old Maytags setting around and most likely have the motor you would need. I live in southern Iowa about 1 1/2 hours from dsm. If u r not able to find what u need I may be able to help u out.

I sent you an email - I also live in Des Moines and have a spare motor you can have. I'd be happy to come over and install it for you free of charge and make sure the rest of your dryer looks good. Wiring diagram was attached to the email too.

I had the chance to stop by Damian's house last night and replace the motor in his KDE306 with the spare I had from a DG306 I had parted out recently. Some serious arcing had occurred with the connections to his old motor, so I also had to replace the connectors on the ends of a couple of the wires leading to the motor. Just over an hour later, his machine was up and running again. By the way, his Maytag pair is a 1969 KDE306 and a 1976 KA208.

Damian is a fine young man with a strong interest in collecting vintage appliances, furniture and decor. It was a pleasure to meet him and help him out.

He allowed me to take some photos of his other major appliances and share them with the group. Some of you with a keen eye may be able to determine what kind of house he has from the photos below.
