Been reading all your wonderful stories.....my 1st post ever. Last night I finally 'gave in' to picking up an appliance waiting for the trash.
I was driving down an alley looking for my choc. lab that had run away the day before when I saw something that took my mind off the missing dog for a few minutes.
Someone had thrown out some old appliances from a house, and had evidently had been there for a while, as several inches of snow were on them.
Sorry it was dark out last night and I didnt want to linger outside as the temp was in the single digits! I looked at the pair quickly this morning before leaving for work. The washer is a maytag from the late 60's or so and the dryer was a 20 yr old gas kenmore. Both in great shape, especially the washer, (which is what I really wanted!!!) the 2 belts were still intact on the bottom of the washer and the inside of the wash basket was free of soap scum etc., even the fabric dispenser had no trace of softner or detergent (as we all know some mistake it for a soap dispenser LOL). The washtub was free of soap scum etc. Overall it looked great.
Without knowing the model number right now, the only things I can tell you about the washer is: Maytag (large center dial) "automatic washer" written on a white plate next to the timer. 4 temps and 3 load size buttons.
Hopefully I'll be able to hook er up tonight and see if there are any problems.
