Maytag Madness

My friends have a Maytag model MAV6000AWW washer that developed great loudness,mostly on the spin,like a jet plane sound about a year ago,after their teens washed tennies in it? What's up with that?

The bearing.  It's a NorgeTag.  Tub seal probably going.

Thanks Bob,would it cost alot to repair it? They want the washer to match the still good dryer,so the dont want a new one yet.

It's a pretty major repair, but I'll let the experts chime in on this as to exactly what's involved.  These washers don't last an eterrnity, far from it!

i've never had one of these apart down to the tub seal or bearing,but the
rest of the dissasembly is very easy with these(inner and outer tub removal
tranny removal ETC.)
one thing i don't like about these is the single belt to drive both the pump
and tranny-if the belt slips they won't pump out...
