I picked this pair up today. It is loaded with features. I need to know, 1st, how to get the front panel off to clean inside. It has a sour odor. 2nd. How do I work the stain lifter feature. What does it do?

I have the MAV7600 and looks like it's a model or two below this one, but has a stainless steel wash basket.

One the top... yes, you should be able to pull the top up from the front, just give it a good yank.

The front panel has no screws, you have to pull the top up first, then you tilt the front panel out (away from the machine) and lift up.

WAIT!!!!!

To properly open her up, you need to take a putty knife and insert it inbetween the top and the front panel to gently push in two spring clips which will let you lift the top up like a hood. Then there are two 5/16" screws that attach the front panel to the cabinette. Remove them and the panel will tilt forward enough to lift it up off two hooks that hold the bottom of the panel on.

Kevin, your machine may be missing the front panel screws...

So, how do these machines clean? Do you guys find that they're gentler on clothes than a Shredmore, but good cleaners?

Spot stain button...control panel 30 day dispenser

so, where did one put in a 30-day (Liquid?) supply into said dispenser? Don't see any opening where one would make such a HUGE deposit...I recall GE having on one of their models about 5/6 years ago a small spray hose that nestled atop the wash basket - for water only IIRC

Robert, the soap dispenser was a reservoir that inserted into the lid. It had a tank that held liquid detergent, a button to dispense it and a slide control to control the amount that came out when you pushed the button. when you put the lid up, the spout was automatically postioned above the tub. They were removeable to clean which is why it's probably missing. Supposedly, the soap dispenser assy could be mounted in the lid of any MAV washer of that design. See the scan below.

Goatfarmer (Kenny, right?), You are correct. This is the same thing as the Maycor made Norge/Magic Chef washer. It's the Herron drivetrain. The top is just sloped for looks...

Askomiele, I believe that is a toggleswitch (no, not our toggles...) that activates the cold water valve with the lid up so you can spot treat a stain and you don't have a sink handy nearby. It was also called a 'fingertip faucet'.

Drew You Are a Lifesaver

I found the clips. Thank you. I downloaded from Maytag, Thank You. I just picked up a stainless today, I m working on photos on a new thread. I ve got some issues, so I will need some help. I have a good idea what the problem is. The owner of the MAV 8057 got rid of because he thought it had bearing trouble. I know the issue is a unbalance that is not as bad as one would think. The big noise is the vibration from the cabinet, which I can fix. So MAV 8057 will be good.
