Hello Members,

I recently purchased a Maytag Top Load Wash in pristine condition from a friend. The machine was hardly used and store for quire a few years The machine works perfectly except when the machine goes into spin. It vibrates pretty bad. I bought the rubber anti-vibration feet which stops the machine from walking.

I have discussed this with 2 very experienced appliance repair men. 1 told me it could be the dampers whatever that is. lol
The daampers were lubricated, but still vibrates duribg spin

If anyone has any ideas for this problem, please advise.

Thank You in advance

Raymond

What is the story behind this washer?

Hi Ray, did your friends use this washer? Did it work OK for them? How long is it sat around?

Assuming someone didn’t remove the counter balance weight from the transmission you likely have a bad wash basket. The top should be raised on the machine the tub cover taken off watch the machine spin make sure the wash basket is properly centered on the mounting stem. It could’ve been knocked out of alignment When the machine was moved around.

Other than these things you need another wash basket they’re not hard to find luckily.

Cabinet/feet not level in all directions.

Damper pads not lubricated or properly lubricated (or wrong lubricant).

Tub springs not properly tensioned/centered during the lubrication process of damper pads.

Inner tub not properly centered.

A combination of one or more the above.
