Howdy. Nice to meet you all.
This is my ol' washing machine. I am trying to find out more about it, in case I ever have to look for parts.
She doesn't look like much, but she does all my laundry, and works great. Heh.
Looks to be a Model J to me, but when I look at the serial number list here: http://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?55541 , they all have 6-digit serial numbers, whereas mine only has a 5-digit one, "53984". There are no other markings on it that I can find, other than "General Electric Appliance Motor" on the electric motor, and "Maytag K-1430" on the arm that holds the horizontal shaft that turns the wringer.
Should I just assume that there is a "1" missing from the beginning of the serial number, and it was made in Nov 1947? Or is it just older than what is listed in that document I linked to?
Thanks everyone.
