The motor seem to be pulling to far to the back which causes slow agitation. If I pull the motor forward it will agitate at the normal speed. I took pictures to make sure I put everything back the way it was.

are you sure the belts are on right...the main drive belt goes on first to the top slot and then the pump belt...

also, do you have the pump belt too tight...this will cause the motor to pull towards the back, and cause the drive belt to slip excessively....if you have to, take the pump belt off for a second to see if that changes the wash speed...

and are you using new springs, and at least 2, I put three on mine ...just some thoughts....

Thanks Yogi, I double check the belts. I know the pump belt isn't too tight, it's actually a little loose and the pump can't be moved any farther. The springs (2) are new, from my local Maytag dealer.

I have to check out a leak that only happens when the washer is filling up. So I will double check the belts at the same time. How did you add a 3rd spring?

Thanks.

There should be 3 locations for springs on the sliding base, 2 are normally in use and just add one more to the empty one, every one I have ever seen has them, look closely...

I have a few older bases from he 70's that don't have the extra hole for adding a 3rd spring.

I double checked the belts and they are on correctly. I tried a 3rd spring and the squeal came back during the spin until all the water was pumped out.

Springs...

My Maytag has had very slow agitation for the first couple of minutes. The spins made a bit of noise also (sort of a banging sound). Just swapped out the two springs on the motor glide and the machine runs like it's showroom new!!!

I did find the 3rd hole on the motor base, it's on the right hand side of the base. It agitates and spins perfectly. The only thing I need to do next is to replace the water inlet valve.
