Maytag Neptune DC Dryer With Steam Cabinet

Seems those are gas more often than not.
I have room for one of these in my basement. I may just start keeping an eye out. It would look good next to my stacked Neptune set, and since they seem to be more commonly found in gas, that works for me.
Maytag Gas DC Dryer
I have a never used gas one that is about to get installed in my basement laundry room renovation.
That said the gas ones were far less common than the electric models, I have only seen about 3 gas ones compared to about 30 electric models in our area.
The advantage of the gas model is you can use both dryers at full power where as with the all electric model the lower dryers heating wattage is cut considerably if you are also using the upper drying cabinet.
The lower dryer part of this appliance is based on the 27"Norge dryers and they were lower BTUs and Wattage to begin with and not great dryers to begin with, so this will not be my primary dryer anyway.

John, best I recall the offerings I've seen for sale in this area (Houston, Austin, San Antonio, DFW) have been gas moreso than electric ... although I'm sure I haven't seen them all.

They do seem kinda neat but I too am absolutely bulging at the seams storage wise.
It never occurred to me that electric versions would pose issues with simultaneous use. It was gas from day one with my parents, and I've only been through one electric dryer period since living on my own, which was when Dave and I got a place together and he had a nice late '70s black panel Kenmore set with electric dryer.
When we bought our first house in 1990, there was no 240v service to the garage laundry area, so it was back to gas. By that time we had a MOL '70s Maytag set, and the electric HOH dryer had never been a good performer. We got a nice used '70s DG806 HOH for the new place, and that turned out to be the best dryer I've ever had. It got a load of towels dried perfectly in half the time it took its electric predecessor, and at a far lower cost to operate.

What amp circuit do the electric models require? I would think a 50 amp 240 volt circuit would be sufficient to operate the dryer at full output while the upper drying cabinet is in operation. If only 30 amp, I can see why they both couldn't function at full capacity simultaneously.

Were designed to operate on a standard 30 Amp 208 or 240 circuit, Yes 50 even 40 Amps would be more than enough power to operate both dryers ay once but you would have to rewire or reprogram the machine to do so.
The main dryer has a duel heating element that comes into play when the upper part is turned on to reduce the elements power by about 1800 watts.
[ This element is NLA but we have used the regular Norge elements to restring and save the DC element, as only the main element ever burns out ]
