Love Maytag's play on the auto industry's 2-tone look. Were these on the lower end of price list? Looks fantastic!

Not having a centerpost on this machine, does it make much difference as far as the way the machine cleans?
Is the centerpost just to keep things from getting tangled?

What effect would the lack of a center post have on the toroidal motion of the water? I would think it would slow it down a bit, thus slowing the turnover as well.

Not kool, just unusual. Those things tangle horribly.
There used to be a campground down in Florida many years ago that had a row of those things under a shed for public use. I used to watch people trying to untangle everything enough to run it through the wringer.

I've always enjoyed the color of these machines - but there are three selling points that this machine did not have, that the standard model N did have.

1. no post agitator, as stated by Steve, tangles like a bear. Geoff mentioned to me that when you wash with the no post you can hear the transmission laboring much more than with a standard agitator.

2. the rollers on the NX are both hard (both are black) and can cause issues with buttons, zippers, etc. (IIRC)

3. no lid hanger is present on the NX. The user would have to put the lid on the ground or a shelf near the machine when using.

Two of the issues are easy to fix - just put a normal gyrafoam agitator in it, and change out the top roller and you are set. The hanger, oh well, we can live. :)

Most housewifes would opt for the 50 dollar more model N with these three issues.
