Maytag Porta Washer - LaPorte P/U Only

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Shipping is really no big deal, most sellers of this kind of item have no idea what shipping options there are. If they figured out how to drag it home from an estate sale/auction, they can certainly drop it off at a UPS store and the buyer can take care of the rest. If needed, a shipping company can pick it up where it's located now and get it to your front door with merely a phone call. There's more than one way to skin a cat.

True, true.

Have found if one contact a seller who states "no shipping" and has a nice quiet word explaining the option, they usually will relent. Only fly in the ointment can arise if there is not a UPS store or reliable drop and ship office in the area. Even Craters and Freighters are not everywhere, including some large metro areas.

Speaking of C&F, with petrol prices going through the roof these days, can only imagine what their prices are like now for shipping large items like appliances.

Beltman Shipping is a great option and have never found an area/local restriction for pick-up. Even rural South Carolina was no problem, they just assign it out to a local carrier and transfer the goods to the carriers serving the delivery destination. Of course, the minimum charge is about $329 - but it is a rare 1940's gem after all ;-)

Porta washers

I too have no use for this type of machine really dont find them interesting at all...Kinda boring..no lights..not really "automatic" per say....I myself dont Ohhs and aaaa's over these at all

I'd be interested except a) don't have the space for it and b) can't justify it in my budget at the moment.

However, at risk of scorn from a couple of folks above, I do use a twinnie for the vast majority of my washing, and would gladly acquire another unit as a backup. Some day when there's more space and the budget isn't tight...

Brought home the Maytag portable

It's a cute machine, never messed with one before.
I certanly wouldn't get rid of the wringer for this, but, its kinda fun to fool with.

If anyone would know the where a porta-dryer could be located...lemme know.

Regards;

Al :D

There are a couple of brand new, still in box Porta-Dryers in the Iowa store Steve (gyrafoam) and I were at a month ago. One gold and the other avocado, $329 I think was the price. There were a couple of used ones sitting around, but either they were scavenged for parts or in rough shape. Another store here has a white Porta-Dryer, rought shape and still $139 or so. Highway robbery!
