Maytag Portable Dryer--A Deal???

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

it is a halo of heat, type system

I had one in the late 70's early 80's, I never liked the hassle of the maytag twin tub and i had the portable kenmore washer with the soft suspension like the one JasonL had. It was shallower in depth than the kenmore dryer. It would nicely dry 1/2 to 3/4 of a load from the kenmore portable washer. IIRC it was about $250.00 back then, but it would fit in the space I had for it and the Kenmore 110v dryer would not, depth issue with a hall closet. Over all it was a good dryer, i always rave about what a nice job it would do with Polo shirts.

also similar to

the Hoover portable dryer. Same Halo of Heat-ish design.

Mine is drying clothes right now. I picked it up at a auction this past March for $1. It was sitting in a garage all fithy dirty and they couldn't get a bid. I offered the dollar and it was sold! I couldn't just leave it there.

It cleaned up pretty good and works well. Didn't need any repairs. It sits in my bedroom and I can vent it out the window.

Anyone even considering one of these units, should look through Sear's parts online parts department to check availability of spares. Last time one checked most were NLA or very low stock.

Personally do not see much about either the Maytag, or Hoover small dryers to warrant the prices some seem willing to pay. When one comes down to it unless the laundry is very well extracted, one is going to be looking at some long drying times. Worse yet, these unvented units will spew lint and heat inside the room, NOT the best thing.
