Maytag Pushbutton dryer (900 series?)

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Always wanted a nice pushbutton Maytag set - they reminded me of the "pushbutton future" promises of the space age. Hope it is in great shape and you're able to get it!

I went out to see it this afternoon and it's actually in better shape cosmetically than the photo would lead you to believe. One of the little hinge pins for the pilot light door is loose enough to let the door fall off, hence the obnoxious tape, but otherwise it's just a little dirty. The guy had it hooked up when I got there so he could demonstrate it for me. Per Kevin's advise I ran it on the 'damp dry' setting and with an empty drum it shut off in about ten seconds, which is right on the money per the service manual. I suppose I could have checked out the other shut off times but I didn't feel like standing around for half an hour or more. So I made a leap of faith and gave the guy a deposit on it. I'll go back and pick it up on Saturday.

I picked it up!

It's now at my parents house where it'll be paired up with their A806. A quick wipe down with some Windex revealed a very nice cabinet and almost spotless chrome trim on the control panel. According to the seller it came from the home of an elderly couple that bought it new and have used it ever since. They're in the middle of a major remodel of their home and decided to 'upgrade' to new appliances. Hopefully they won't have cause to regret that decision.

Here's a nice overall view of it fresh off the back of my truck. A little lighter fluid and a rag should clean away the tape residue by the pilot light door very nicely.(don't worry, I'm not going to set fire to it)

Let me know when you plan to go through this dryer, I may be able to help with info.

Very Nice Find!

Aferim!

Very beautiful find. I always wanted to match an A806S with a DG906 like this. If I'm not mistaken, the DG806 and the DG906 were identical except one was controlled by a dial and one was controlled by buttons. Buttons, always better!

Pretty 906!

What a gorgeous machine, David! I seriously considered it for myself (I love the clean look) for although I live in NY, I'm from CA and I'm certain my brothers would have picked it up for me. But since I have an 806 set thanks to a head's up from AW, I decided to pay it forward and I'm glad did. Thanks for posting the photos, I'm certainly enjoying it vicariously!
