Maytag repair information needed

I have a LDG808 dryer - It will no longer shut off. It dries fine but it will not shut off when the clothes are dry. It also will not even shut off when you have it on "Air Fluff"
I need some ideas as to what the problem could be. Thanks for the help from my "Maytag" guys.

sounds like the timer...does it move during a "time only" cycle...simple to replace...you may be able to get just the little motor that makes it turn...otherwise you're talking complete timer replacement...

I had that on one dryer...you could turn it on and off by the timer knob but it would not turn to off by itself...would run for hours...once replaced...runs like normal

I don't think that one has a timer. It uses an electronic control.

Make sure there is a seperate ground wire from the dryer, to a pipe, etc. It needs a seperate ground to operate properly. If that's OK, it probably needs a new control board.

Ground Wire:

I've not experienced this myself as of yet, but I've read often on the site that the Electronic Maytag Dryers especially by brand, need to have a Ground Wire connected to the Cabinet, to allow the Control to operate properly.

I realize that it seems like it has operated all right for a while, but is it possilbe that you or someone else might have moved the Dryer out enough recently to pull the Ground Wire out of the Ground Screw.

Capacitor

The most common failure is the capacitor mounted to the control board, which is "saturated" by the amount of moisture the baffles detect. Electrolytic capacitors start going south after 20 years. I'm pretty sure the capacitor is available separately, but you may end up having to buy the whole shebang. Unfortunately, the douche-bag previous owner of my microfiche slides burned up this particular slide and it's pretty much unreadable. Sorry.

Eh, I run my DE750 and DE806 from a home made 220 extension cord with no earth ground wire attached to either machine. No drying issues.

Something else to consider...

The electronic contol units of that time had a solenoid that used a paperclip like linkage (p/n 312260) to move a slide in the electronic control switch. I've seen that wire break which stops the solenoid from shutting off the control. This is common. There is also a test board used to test the electronic control system itself.
