So, I have a 1973 MOL Maytag reverse rack dishwasher, It's a WU400, with the figure-8 sump strainer and direct drive pump. Last winter, here in Toronto Canada, We had a severe ice storm which destroyed all of the powerlines in my neighborhood. after about 3 days, The house temperature went down to about 6 degrees Celsius (42 degrees Fahrenheit). It wasn't cold enough to freeze any of the water lines. When the power came back on, My trusty built-in Maytag Reverse Rack wouldn't fill, The pump motor and heating element ran fine. I'm not sure whether the cold temperature had anything to do with this issue, but the problem surfaced after the power was turned back on. I didn't even hear the distinctive humming of the solenoid. However, when I manually filled the machine up with water, some of it must have splashed down the fill spout because it worked normally and the valve opened and closed normally. The machine's fill valve gets stuck like this every week. each time, it takes longer to get it working again. What exactly is wrong with my machine. I checked and it doesn't appear to be a timer issue, and the valve coils aren't open circuit. I haven't dissembled the valve as I am afraid that it may leak when I put it back together. Can anyone recommend a good solution for this problem, What could be wrong. And on a side note, this machine's door spring snapped and it needs a new one, I have no idea where I could get a replacement. If anyone could help me with that as well, it would be much appreciated.
