Hello to All AW members. Today I ran across a MAYTAG reverse rack JetClean dishwasher on the Portland Oregon Craigslist. They are asking 175.00 for the machine and the pics of the machine say it has seen VERY VERY little use. I am unsure of the model# and I don't know how to transplant the ad from Craigslist to AW. The model has a dial with the three basic cycles pots/pans, Regular and Light Wash. The control panel says pull for energy saver and push to start for power dry. I have messaged the seller of the machine and I am waiting for a response before I go and get it. Is 175.00 a good going price for this kind of machine.

Any advice would be great!

Providing a link

David,

Pull up the ad. Copy the entire URL at the top (portland.craigslist.org yadda yadda). Come back to this thread. Add your reply (at least one character, or "Here's the link"). Paste the craigslist URL into the "URL Link to share" field. Post.

MT RR DW

Basic near bottom of the line Belt Drive model from the 80s, very good if you like to hear your DW running, not so great if you like to load lots of large items in the DW.

It also has limited cycle selection and poor water heating because of a lack of any thromostat that assures decent wash and final rinse temps, so you need really hot water going in.

Check the condition of the unicouple.

I had a version of this dishwasher and used it in my current home (it's a convertible, so I built it in) for about 8 years until the cycle control timer went. On the whole I was very satisfied with everything about it although when I installed the optional rinse dispenser it never worked right. I love the reverse rack machines and, unlike a lot of other machines, the top rack can be removed very easily so you can wash big things in the machine when you need to. I'm still looking to find a TOL of one of these with different cycles and the ability to turn the heating element on and off.

175 dollars is a lot, however. These machines are a dime a dozen. I wouldn't pay that much for a machine that's over 30 years old unless it were some remarkable collector's item. This isn't.

I bought one of these for $50

I bought this identical machine for $50 a few years ago in great shape just as this one appears to be. I was happy with the cleaning performance.

I ended up giving it away to a friend who needed a dishwasher as I am more inclined to collect Kitchen Aid machines. I will say I think $175 is high. That's my opinion. I don't think I'd do more than $100 on this but it depends how badly you want this model. I overpaid for a machine I really, really wanted and I don't regret it.

I got the machine

I got the reverse rack tonite. I brought it home ran it thru a cycle to check for leaks and such and the machine runs like a champ. I've never had a reverse rack machine before so it will take a little getting used to.

To build this machine in do I need any conversion kits?

Conversion Kit

I wouldn't think so. Just remove the panels, cord and hoses and plumb it in.

Congrats. I always wanted to play with one of thoe. They are noisy but the stuff comes out clean in under a hour.

Yay !!!
