My cousin from Wisconsin just sent me a text. Her RR dishwasher is acting up. She says it needs a pump housing, part #901459, or the bearing and shaft assembly, if the complete housing is unavailable, part #900896. The belt is showing signs of wear, part #6-9021150. She wants to know if I have any suggestions.

I have used a RR before and done just very basic maintenance on them, but I don't have any service manuals for Maytag dishwashers and I haven't done any extensive work on them. I don't have the model number of her machine, but it looks like an early '80's machine. Dial on right side and two push buttons in the middle above the latch. It's a nice machine and in good shape, but when I was visiting her last June I noticed that the machine made a slight howling sound on wind down. I thought at the time that didn't sound good, but I didn't want to say anything as I wasn't up there to work on a dishwasher. I did change the front color panels on it and cleaned out the sump while I was there.

Does anyone know what the problem might be and if there are any parts available for an early '80's RR? I would appreciate any information you all might be able to send my way. Thanks.

Noisey MT RR DW

It needs either a rebuild kit [ bearings, shaft and water seal assembly ] or a complete pump assembly and a new belt .   If someone brings a DW like this into our shop we can fix it for around $200-250, if I have to travel to Wisconsin to fix it add about $2000, lol.   These parts are no longer officially available, but anything can be fixed if you want to spend enough effort and MONEY on it, so unless she really wants to keep this DW it is probably time to change it out for a new Maytag.   John L.

Craigslist

Check on there for a donor machine to get parts from for your RR. most times you can pick up one for free or fairly cheap and then just swap out the pump module.

remember to grease the belt as well, helps with the howling and noise. new belts come with a tube of grease to use.

good luck
