My grandma and were arguing about the age of my reverse rack dishwasher, which was originally her mothers dishwasher. I knew this was a late eighties early nineties machine but she felt it was much older. I decided that to settle it I would see if I could decode the serial number. The number is 104165 FK. From the information I found here, that would put it at May 92. However, I didn't think Maytag made reverse racks that late. Anybody have any thoughts or info?

That would have been the tail end of production. Maytag switched to a direct drive pump in 1990 but the change to a more conventional racking system came when the "7" series was introduced in the summer of 1992.
model number would help also...
Yup. The "4" series came immediately before the changeover.
