I've seen lots of Maytags of that era and a bit newer, that are suffering upper transmission bearing failure, from lack of lubrication, because of oil getting thick. Run for decades, with a set of belts? Maybe, maybe not. Never good to ass/U/me, it makes an ass out of me, and puts U in the middle.....
