Electronic Maytag top load stack

We have still been successful in fixing these troubles and controls, the membrane panel is the difficult one, when the membrane acts up you’ve got to replace it the electronic part you can send off to be rebuilt it core centric I still have a whole box full of controls for these so far I’ve always been successful fixing them, and there’s lots of used parts for them online.

The bigger problem that’s killing These machines are rusted out outer tubs, bad transmissions, and damper assemblies that failed badly.

We saved a white gas one for the museum. It’s one of the last electronic ones.

When Maytag brought this out in 1985 they were only electronic but around 1990. They came out with one with mechanical controls, which didn’t give us much trouble although they used a crappy Kingston timer that we had to replace a lot of those on the washers.

Moving a Maytag top load stack 1985 through 2006

Hi Kenny, yes you could pull the washer out of the frame and move it separately. The dryer would become quite awkward. We often turn the dryer upside down at that point to move them so that they would be stable in the back of a truck or box van.

It certainly could help to move the two items separately, especially when you had to get one of these upstairs and around corners in the townhouse, etc. the bad thing about this design was the machine had eight separate feet with eight separate lock nuts and you had to get all 8 feet touching the floor in the lock nuts tight in order to have a stable installation.

Needless to say very few of them were installed right and there were a lot of vibration complaints with these machines.
