Maytag T/L in UK

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

I was under the impression that washers used in the UK, by law, had to have a lid/door lock. Is this true? And if so when did the law come into being?

This is based on me using an Amriccan-made top-loader in London in the 80's that was retrofitted to include a lid lock.

Re-arranging!!!

Hi Al

That mirage was from last year sometime!! all different again as you well know!! The wringer is in storage along with most others as they take up so much more room than is available!!

The wringer came from Wisbeach, the gentleman who sold it was a baby when his parents and his fathers parents (his grandparents) moved from the US to Italy with the US Airforce....this machine was used by his Grandmother and then put in store by his parents, when they died it all transferred to him...In the meantime he moved to UK....he is now retired and was clearing out his lockup, had a wonderful range cooker from the 60`s from Italy,

He was just so please to have found someone who would preserve it rather than having to skip it!!! it is 110 volts and I use it with a transformer etc....lovely wash action..

So my Maytag set is a complete quartet : A Wringer washer, Twin-tub, Top Loading set and the newer Front Loaders!!! and having visited the Maytag Factory in Iowa just as it was closing makes it all the more special!!!

A208 variant.

My first washer was an A208 which now washes for Classiccaprice. I LOVED that washer and preferred it to the A206 I am using now. Although it lacks the lighted control panel and speed/temperature selections of the A806, it does a damn fine job getting clothes clean. It is a regular, not a large, capacity machine and with the Powerfin agitator, its performance is just superb.

Get this one and you'll fall in love,
Dave

Well

Deceided not to bid myself, am happy with the pair I have and also have another model on the way, can anyone tell me what model this is?? Is it a larger capacity than the A208??

Gary, good to speak earlier, heres the link to the Maytag factory pics....it was the 2005 convention at Gregs (gansky) in Omaha!!We had a visit to the Maytag factory and the Jasper County Museum where many models are there to view!!!

Looks like an A106.

This would be the same size as the A208, but with fewer features. The A208 would add a bleach dispenser, a gentle wash and rinse speed setting, a lint filter, and a fabric softener dispenser.

Still built like a tank,
Dave
