Maytag Tale of a Tub at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry

Another thank you goes out to Greg who lent me this adorable Tale of a Tub book which was produced to showcase the museum's Maytag exibit which ran from 1958 through 1969. I would have absolutely loved to have seen this as a kid! The book has illustrations throughout which remind me very much of the old Dick and Jane illustrations.

I just added this book to the Ephemera Library.

I was at the Museum of Science and Industry a couple of times during this time period, but don't recall seeing this exhibit.  Probably because I was considered too young to roam around on my own, and those in charge having no interest in Maytag guts.  Otherwise I have no doubt that I would remember it well.

Doesn't this place have a giant powerfin agitator in a huge tank on display?

We received an annual update for our World Book Encyclopedia and I remember the picture of this exhibit in one of them.
