Okay guys, with all the glory of the recent lighted panels, I really want to get new tub bulbs for the 806 and the 702. I know I can get them online, but I was wondering if you guys have found a hardware store source for these little buggers. The hard part, DC/BAY bulb, 120v, 10W. At Grainger, I sell a 6w bulb, but it is a S6 lamp (4V754). I have no way of knowing if the original bulb is a S6, or a B6 or a S8? No where on the bulb is a Trade Lamp number, so again, nothing to really go by when crossing. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Ben

Re: Alternate Places to check:

Hi! Ben, how about checking at a Sewing Machine Shop or at an Automotive Parts Shop? It looks like a Sewing Machine Light Bulb, but some Vehicle Light Bulbs are narrower like the Glass on that one is as well.

Good Luck with locating some Light Bulbs, please let us know where you do locate some, for our future references too.

Ben ... I actually found a brand new bulb for my 1954 101P console light from the Maytag dealer! It cost $2.50. Bet you could probably order one.

Geoff,

It didn't happen to look like this bulb? I know the dial indicator bulb on the Pink 56 gas Maytag was a miniature bulb, that was quite a bit smaller than this bulb, and a single contact. Let me know what you had. When I get to Cory's I'm gonna get the parts book out...

Ben

BTW - I can't wait to see the AMP when you get it back from the paint shop!

Ben ... yes, it looks just like it. We used the part number that was in the original parts book and it worked. It had the double contact "nubs" on the bottom, too.

Also, the dealer was able to order it as something "different" than the Maytag name and was able to save a few bucks. I think Maytag is still carrying a lot of these parts but I can bet the prices have been raised significantly.

I can't wait for the AMP either!!! I'm working on the water valve now; that's the last piece. I'm using POR-15 this weekend.

Check your local lighting distributor. Sometimes you might even find a store that specializes in light bulbs.

I buy them at Lowes or Ace hardware stores in the specialty bulb sections. They should have a similar appliance bulb in 15 or 25 watt. I put a 15W in my 160 last week and should used 25W as it's a little dim. I used a 25W in the A906 and it was perfect. You can use a little less wattage in the timer dial light, 15W would be fine.
