I'm working on a 1970 Maytag A206 and have a question about the tub bolts. I see that it is recommended to buy new bolts with new gaskets. From what I have read in other posts I need the following:

2 of Part #200744 Short bolt & gasket

1 of Part #205254 Long bolt & gasket.

My question is that when I took the bolts out of the outer tub they were all the same size. Is that normal and do I still need 1 of the long bolts?

Thanks for any help!

Doug

The short bolt is for the front mount. Usually, if you use the long bolt there, it can strike the inside of the front cover. You CAN use the old bolts, but I prefer to use new just for the possible pain in the tuckus factor that having to replace a failed one can bring. John is right, tho. I HAVE used the old ones if they appear to be in good shape...

The bolts seem to be in very good shape, but the rubber gaskets seem kind of stiff. Could I use the same gasket sealant I used on the cork gasket on the transmission? If I would decide to order new bolts should I just get all short ones or get a long one for the front? When I noticed all the bolts I took out were the same size it confused me.

Thanks for your help! Doug

If I would decide to order new bolts should I just get all

I've done that before, but it's a royal PITA to thread the rear ones in!
