Hello!

I have a (1981-ish) Maytag LA510, Series 01 washing machine, and when a contractor moved it, the part that connects to the internal siphon break fitting broke off on the outside of the washing machine.

My plumber took the back panel off and determined that the actual siphon break fitting is fine. The part we need is the part that extends to the outside of the machine and connects to the drain hose. The siphon break fitting is inside the panel, followed by a rubber gasket, then this piece that just rests against the gasket and is held in place when you screw on the plate in the back panel (see photos).

In these photos, the broken side sticks out the back of the machine, and the flat side is behind the panel and rests against the gasket.

So, we just need the piece that is broken and the gasket, not the actual siphon break fitting. Does anyone know the name or part number of that piece and the gasket? My plumber and I would rather find the correct parts than try to retrofit an adapter to connect the drain hose.

Thank you!

Thank you, but that looks like the internal portion of the siphon break. I have that part. I need the part that extends from the inside to the outside of the machine that sits on the other side of the gasket that abuts the siphon break. I can't seem to find it in any schematic -- they all just show the internal components.

Thank you for the product links! If I am looking at everything correctly, this white piece goes on the inside of the machine:

The black rubber gasket included in the above package comes next.

Then, it's followed by this piece that abuts the black gasket and extends outside of the machine:

Is that correct?

While I don't need the internal plastic piece, it looks like that may be the most economical way to get the rubber gasket.

Do the hoses just attach to both sides using the included band clamps?

Maytag washer drain elbow

You're very unlikely to need the gasket. I've never replaced one of these and I've replaced probably 25 of these broken elbows over the years.

In a worst case scenario, if it leaks a little bit, you can take it apart and reseal it with some 3M marine sealant screw it back together. Let it dry overnight. You'll be good forever.

You guys are lifesavers! Thank you!

Every contractor rolled their eyes and suggested we just replace the washer/dryer with a stackable unit. Whenever someone suggests it, they get to hear my mom tell them that she's had the washing machine since 1981 and has only needed to replace one belt once. Our house flooded when all of our pipes froze, and the asbestos removal crew snapped this piece off the back when they moved the machine (to mitigate the sheet vinyl floor).

Yep, that sounds like a Maytag.
