Maytag washer E2L vs N2L newbie help!

Hi,
I am new to buying/using vintage Maytag washers. I am a bit afraid and intimidated by the fact that I have never used one, so I don’t know much about what to look out for when buying. I came across a deal of someone selling a E and a N for $150, it seems to be almost great condition, as in it has no dirt, kept clean and works. Now, I live in a state where it’s not popular to have some in working condition or some have the plugs cut off. I have found a few with issues with belt or the hose, but this deaI l had to haggle down a bit.

Anyways,
I wanted to know if this a deal worth pursuing or if I should wait for a better deal.

As well as transport tips, any recommendations on which model to pick, etc.

I would buy both hahahaha. I have the big brother of the N the J. I must say the J works well for me since it is the porcelain tub model. I love the way it washes clothes and they are all great no matter what model you choose great.

I would consider how, where, and how often you will use the machine. I live in my 1960s home that has a large laundry room with a floor drain so it has room to sit and It is a gravity drain model so it is easy to use drain and store.

My very first washing machine was a Maytag model J that I bought at the Salvation Army Thrift Store in ‘72 for $35.00. It had a pump and I used to use it in the bathroom which had a ball and claw bathtub in which I would wring the washed laundry into and used a broom handle to swirl them through the water to rinse them, then ran them back through the wringer and hung them on the clothesline to dry. That washer was excellent!

If you get the chance buy the model E, it has a larger tub than the model N and most likely will have a pump too since it was the top of the line.
