Hi everybody, My cousin needs me to repair a leak on their washer, and he cannot find the model number. He sent me this picture, and it states it's a 2 speed dependable care on the control panel. I'm wondering if this is a true two belt Maytag Dependable care, or just in name only, and it's really something else under the hood. Looks like it could be from the transitional period. I hope it is a DC, since I have those parts on hand. Thanks!

This is the same exact washer that was left behind at my old house! This is a 2 belt style of Maytag they built all the way to 2006. This design dates all the way back to 1958 sometime and there were variations over the years but didn’t change that much all the way to 2006

Thanks Sean! I know how to proceed now, and have all the parts on hand to repair common leaks on these. Do you happen to recall the model number on the one left behind at your old house?

I don’t even remember the model number on the 1997 Maytag Dependable Care washer that was left behind at my old house since I was only 7 years old when I moved. The memories of that Maytag washer at my old house is what started my interest in vintage appliances, and the wave of nostalgia of helping my aunt do laundry in the 1999 Whirlpool Ultimate Care II back in the summer of 2015

My cousin needs me to repair a leak on their washer,

Leaking huh, probably needs a tub bearing and boot seal replacement.

Model number isn't too important for that job, the stem seal/bearing kits are the same going back many years.
