HI everyone, What a find! My aged neighbor who lives 3 doors away has a matching set of Maytags that she bought new in 1967. Neither the washer nor the dryer has ever had any repairs! She told me last night that there is some "red stuff" that leaks on the floor from time to time from the washer. I assume that is transmission fluid? She said I can have them when she is "finished" with them. She is 82 so I think I understand what she means by "finished." Should the washer be repaired now or just see what happens? And is this really transmission fluid? Thanks for your help. Gary

Ut oh

The ol gal is having her first "menses".
Please keep her away from all male Maytag appliances.
Male Maytags are identifiable with having that extra something. *ahem*

Sorry...I have no idea, but if the neighbor promised them to you, I would get something in writing just in case. Hard to prove her word of mouth when the relatives all come knocking to stake their claims.

dont think its a big deal mine do that too every once in a while. there is a black rubber cap on the bottom of the clutch thing that is full of fills with grease (redish brown) that will drip every so often or maybe the cap just fell off. if shes done with the machines and wants to give them to you nab them.. youll love them
