Hello all,

I am sharing this link with the people on this Forum. I have just listed a vintage 1960's Maytag Automatic Washing Machine on eBay. It is a 3 day auction.

I remember this place from someone who bought another vintage machine from me a few years ago. This is being sold for a relative, but has to be picked up ASAP if you're interested. I thought someone here would appreciate the machine...

Thank you for your interest.

If the water is coming from the left side of the machine, it's most likely the water injector hose(s). 30+ years of water gushing against that 90 degree elbow will wear a hole through it.

Water leaks are generally easy to find/repair. Oil leaks, on the other hand, are a PITA and can get very involved as well as expensive.

I just replaced that same part on the same machine at a friend of mine mothers house. I had no idea how the hole got there, but now I understand thanks to qsd-dan. First I thought a mouse had gotten it, nothing around to make the hole. We used some high pressure hose from the hardware store and used a plastic elbow with a couple of clamps. Works great and no leaks. I have told him I want that machine when the time comes.

The other souce of a leak for this machine time and again is that the clamp from the outer tub to the pump becomes degraded and does not hold well. It's best to put a stainless clamp on each end of the outer tub spigot and the connection of this hose to the pump itself.
