Curious

I hear a click before the igniter comes on the ignite the gas

Which one of the gas valves getting ready to gas the flame

Also the igniter takes a few seconds to glow

Is that normal for a new one

15 seconds or so

used to be instantaneous

15 to 30 seconds is normal

Maybe even a little longer, the igniter has to heat up and trip the heat sensor before the second gas valve is opened, the first gas valve is opened immediately when the ignition process is initiated.

Hot surface ignition systems are never instant, on gas ovens and broilers. They typically take 30 seconds to a minute when the igniters are new and they get slower as they age, the igniters on gas dryers don't age much because they don't leave them on the whole time the burner is running like they do on gas ovens.
