This is hard to admit, but there are times when I just can't leave well enough alone... Not long after I got the Westy Laundromat back up and running, I noticed some weirdness with the water solenoids. Hot water would trickle into the tub at the end of the cycle - if I turned the timer to the Medium temperature selection and stopped and started the machine 2 or 3 times, the trickle would stop. The manual suggested cleaning out the solenoid, which made sense. I should have resisted the urge to tinker...
I took that darn solenoid apart and cleaned it, when I put it back together, cold water wouldn't flow... I dropped the solenoid into a bucket of water while it was powered up and freaked out. I dried it out, cleaned it again and retested it. Still inconsistent cold water flow... This was at the end of November, so I gave up. I wasn't back down in Ogden until this weekend, but I was armed with a new solenoid!

Not as pretty as the original, but it works

I was lucky enough to find a NOS Moffat washer solenoid that fit more or less. I had to install a mounting plate to hold the new one in, but bottom line, it works! Guess who's doing laundry next weekend while tinkering with the CD-6 Westy dryer???

Reading about you "dropping the solenoid into a bucket

gave me a real shock. ;'D I love a thrill like that and I'm glad you're okay, but wasn't it exciting after you survived and calmed down? How many times should we have left well enough alone, but do it again anyway? I know just what you mean.

Your turquoise kitchen is gorgeous.

I had the same problem with my Laundromat. The hot water wouldn't stop flowing. After some regular use it got better, but I could never trust it. That machine needed a total overhaul even though it worked OK. I sold it last year because I knew I'd never get around to doing anything with it, but the early Laundromats are right up there with center dial Maytags as my all time favorite machines.

Yes, and my new 'Big Hair' looks great... ROFLMAO

Hey Paul....

Did you receive my recent email? Wasn't sure if it ended up in your spam folder. I used a new one from you so maybe I entered it wrong. Let me know.
