Mid 60s Frigidaire Custom Imperial washers

Curious as to what most of you feel is a realistic $US price to pay for a circa '63-65 Frigidaire Custom Imperial washing machine? I realize there are a lot of dependencies--colour, operating condition, cosmetics...but really I'm just looking for an idea of what most of you would feel comfortable paying for a nice, useable "daily driver" vs. fully restored museum piece. I've been looking for awhile on my own, and may have to resort to buying one from a collector....

In an ideal world...I'd want a '63 or this '65 one posted by sudslock, I think:

I'd pay a lot to get machines like that in that color! I already have a set in white that I like a lot too! Unfortunately, there are not many around! I was lucky to get both machines separately from other club members and I had help for transport from a great friend of mine (also a member) for the washer that came from Iowa!

 

I wouldn't mind having a few extra sets of these in various colors but I don't think it's going to happen soon!

Thing is if purchasing from a collector

Unless they are hard up or selling under distress conditions you are going to pay and they are right in asking for prices that take into account any work that has been done. Have sat sitting at my computer and seen rusted and clapped out appliances restored by members to showroom if not museum quality, and perfectly functional as well. Good for another twenty or fifty years of use....

When someone does that kind of work it they deserve to get their price. This being said members have offered restored items to others for little to no cost, they just had to arrange shipping.

Totally understood--it is exactly the same with the business I am in. (I design custom hi-end lighting and chandeliers). I'm sort of just looking for a sampling of $$ figures so that I know what is typical/what to expect. Until fairly recently, vintage washing machines were not really on my radar--more into Refrigerators myself. But now I've got it into my mind to find one of these Frigidaires and really have no idea of what typical pricing is (whether restored or unrestored). Like all things...price comes down to what you're willing to pay.
But if I'm going to have to shell out 4 figures for one of these, maybe I'll reconsider and stick with the LG I have !!

I would think that the price would be under $1K no matter how good the condition.
I'd love to have one of these too, but the price isn't what bothers me. It's the complexity of these machines and the NLA'ness of parts that worry me. But they do clean really very well and are worth what you'll pay for them.

To tell you the truth I am very surprised that no other company has come up with a similar design. But I imagine these were expensive to produce in the first place and the world has moved on to Energy Star standards and front loading technology.

The price depends on who you are buying it from and what they think it is worth.

It also depends of how the seller is willing to sell and how near they are from you! My washer came from Iowa and my dryer came from Maryland. I was lucky to get them for the price I paid. In fact, I didn't expect to get the dryer while I was visiting John in Maryland and then Paul who visited Ben in Iowa drove back to Montreal with the matching washer just a month later! Needless to say I was quite happy about that!

Still, neither were free, the washer needed some repairs and neither are Turquoise eiher! I'd be among those willing to pay $1000 for a nice 1964-1967 Custom Imperial set in one of my favorite colors! I'm rather poor, without any income for a year now and I don't have that kind of money available at the moment but I'd find it if it would happen!

 

I talked to someone recently who told me he had a set of 1964 Canadian Custom Imperials in Aztek Copper that he sent to the scrap just a few years ago. If he had known someone had an interest in these, he would have kept them!
