Could anyone give me the measurement of a Miele dishwasher lower rack. I would like to know if the 5000 series models can hold my plates side-by-side. Thanks.

Depending on the size of the plates...if you think that dinner plates can be parked side by side then no. In my Miele LaPerla that I had , those racks are not very wide and short on depth. You have to remember that those European brands like Miele and Bosch have closer spacing between the tines so if your dishes are chunky, forgetaboutit...The Bosch I had here in this house while it cleaned well I found it lacking with capacity. Miele same thing.
Now that I have an LG dishwasher that I love I can put quite alot more dishes in the racks and everything comes out spotless and you can put dinner plates side by side in the lower rack...and still have room...

The 5000 series has the same base bottom rack as my G7100.
If I checked the right product (not currently in my flat up north) on the IKEA page my plates are 26cm in diameter, that's 10.23".
They almost fit side by side as in there is maybe 2-4mm of overlap.
I can place them side by side and they get cleaned, but they touch.
However, I rarely need to as I can fit 10 plates in one row.
I use the left side for dinner plates, the right side for smaller plates and/or pans.
Pots in the front right, deep plates front left.
Another loading alternative is keeping the back MultiFlex area open for pots, pans, bowls etc. and using the front row of tines for the plates.
Though I think in general if stacked correctly, the Miele can hold more miscellaneous items more easily, the Bosch in the old flat can hold more overall.
If you often have mixed loads, I think the Miele is better (love the option to slant the top rack).
If you often just have one pot, one pan, one bowl and plates the rest, the Bosch is better.
On the flip side again, we have a Miele in our work break room and it can hold more cups than a Bosch ever could IMO.

I measured my Corelle dinner plates and they are 10 inches wide so it would work. Thanks! Do you happen to know how hot the extra dry rinse is? I like my Sani-rinse. It seems to keep my filters clear.
Extra dry rinse
It's not a fixed temp, just a fixed energy increase.
These new EcoPower DW have energy guided final rinse heating aswell as sensor drying.
That means a lot of factors change the final rinse temp - from load size to ambient temp.
Depending on these factors a certain amount of energy is alloted for the final rinse.
That amount of energy is monitored via supply voltage and time.
Final temp is just a secondary measure.
I used to have the extra drying turned on and it added a flat 0.1kWh of energy to any cycle.
It makes a difference in drying, but once I got new cutlery I deselected it as the new cutlery is all metal and dries better.
Either way my filters stayed more or less clean either way only using the Auto/Sensor cycle.
Only area that got "gunky" was right between the fine mesh filter and the coarse one. These 2 clip together and along the top where there is a minute gap some stuff always remained - but only like spinach and such.
I don't warrant my measurements though - as I said I could have checked the wrong kind of plates on the IKEA web page.
I'll be abled to confirm for sure next week when I am back at my place.

I was going to recommend going with a lower end G7000 series machine since you can access the service menu to select the additional extra dry level only available there.
But since even the lowest end upgrade is like 500$ more, that's really not worth it.

I have a 6 series Miele and have measured the temperatures used in the Normal and the auto Sensor programs. Without using extra dry both the normal and the sensor program used 141F for the final rinse. My machine does have sensor-dry, so like Henrik mentioned I think that the final rinse temperature is influenced by the temperature in your room.
I have used the extra dry function in the sensor wash and while I don't know what temperature was used in the last rinse everything was hotter. I have used extra dry a few times, mostly in the pots and pans cycle because the last rinse temperature is lower.
Also if you find the user manual for the machine it will usually contain the temperatures used in each part of each cycle.

I was looking at the G5006. I called Miele dealers within 50 miles, but the lead time was mid-April. So, it didn't work out for me.
I brought my dishes into my local Lowes and looked at quite a few models from different manufacturers. I wanted something with a simple 3 tier design like the Miele. I really liked the Whirlpool WDT750SAKZ as it ended up fitting my needs best. It will be delivered Sunday!
I was looking at the G5006. I called Miele dealers within 50 miles, but the lead time was mid-April. So, it didn't work out for me.

Well, I called around some more. I found a Miele dealer that could get me a G5006 in 3-4 weeks so I canceled my Lowes order and jumped on it. I and am getting the dishwasher I had my heart set on!

Why is it that US dishwasher only have tines that spaced so far apart and also not angled? I though it might be because dishwasher in the past had to shoot water through the bottom rack up, thus there needed to be space(?) Or are thick plates that common? Looking at promo shots, it always looks to me as if there's still plenty of space between these plates.
Thick plates are common in the US. More people than in Europe use earthenware rather than china. Therefor European dishwashers can have the tines closer together.
Alex, thicker earthenware is far more common here. Of the 5 sets of dishes I have in my house (collected over time from early 1960s through late 1980s, only one set (bought in 1962) fits well in my Bosch. I have not tried the attempt to squeeze the other sets in the Bosch because there are pieces in each set that don't fit very efficiently and waste a bunch of space. Particularly the bowls used for cereal and soup.
Maybe we are the exception. We use almost all Corelleware glass type dishes. The only dishes we have trouble with in the Miele are the deep bowls.
Other than that we can get a LOT of dishes in a load. We feed 14-15 people per mrs when everyone is home so we made sure we had enough dishes. That really meant NOT going with the thick fire glazed clay type dishes. China is too fragile and heavy. Corelleware is great. Their inexpensive, lightweight, inexpensive.

I think we've got both extremes in the US (very thin, i.e. Corelle and very thick, i.e. Pfaltzgraff) where Europe is more represented in the middle (Ikea everyday and china). The Wirecutter (NYT version of Consumers Reports) made an interesting point that the European dishwashers (Bosch/Miele) have more variability in their tine sizing than the US (WP/GE/Frigidaire)--our Bosch handles Corelle and some fake Blue Willow well and efficiently but not some Dansk lipped stoneware which we've got, where GE and Whirlpool handle the Dansk well but aren't as efficient (optimally spaced tines) for the thinner Corelle
