So, at the beginning of the year I bought a WMF 500 fully automatic coffee maker for 20€ from work.
It was a machine formerly used as a loaner for when people brought in their machines for service and was sold as not working.

It worked fine but quit totally a 2 weeks ago.

My boyfriend and me enjoy a cup of coffee on sunday mornings with breakfast.

So when it quit totally and our fixed-price repair service at work told they wouldn't service that brand, I kinda had to buy a new one.

I was thinking about buying a Jura at first - my mum loves those machines yet never bouhgt one for herself.

But a good colleague (she's a sales representative for BSH and Miele and was on duty for Miele that day) convinced me to buy a Miele.

I mostly drink cappucinos and the Miele had 3 things speaking for it:
First, it was littel cheaper than the Jura.
Second, it is the only offering in that price category that offers the option to make 2 milk beaverages at once.
Third, the milk system is significantly easier to clean then Juras.

Milk froth quality was about the same in my eyes and coffee was different, but neither was better than the other IMO.

On topic of removable brewing unit vs non removable brewing unit I wasn't really on either side of the argument.
I was going to purchse a 5 year warranty either way (these things break constantly no matter how good or bad you take care of them, no matter the brand) and with that I would say it would be having a problem after 3 and close to 5 years anyway to get the machine overhauled at no cost with either machine.
(A full disassembly, cleaning and overhaul is either 89€ if no parts a used or 179€ if it needs parts and that is with the same sub-company service that we offer through our store anyway while you are under our extended warranty offering.
And that offering was 89€ with my machine for 5 years, so.)

So I had my Miele CM 5300 for like 2 or 3 weeks now and I am totally happy with it.

The first few times the first coffee would always be aborted since it thought there weren't any beans in the machine.
But that was due to me adjusting the grinding degree down to fast.

Since then it runs perfectly.

Great coffee, great froth, easy to clean and verry good quality feel.

I only drink coffee once or twice a week and then no more than 2 cups (which is 2 double espressos).

With my flat mates combined that is no more than 30 cups a week, so relativley light use from what I understand.

So, yeah, I can highly recomend this machine so far!

"Fabrik in Deutschland"

Greg,

The vacuums are a totally different animal re: Miele. In general, the home appliances are made in DE, though there are some exceptions. For example, I ran across a built-in coffee center with a "made in (not Germany)" at one service call! Also, not all components are DE made as some are already of the quality Miele would make, so why set up "werks" for them if not necessary. For example, Meteor motors for the microwave stirring blade are made, IIRC, in IT. Shells for Mastercool refrigeration were made by another manufacturer (IIRC Thermador) because it would be cost prohibitive to set up a new factory with hazmat regulations and the rest.

Congratulations, lovely machine

But do you worry about mould.

I have a CM6150 and I'm forever looking inside where possible.
If only they had a UV light on the inside or a fan to dry it out after the steaming.

Country of manufacture and mold

I also have the CM6150 - so far it has been a dream to use; very low-maintenance as long as you follow Miele's instructions about cleaning. I'm not too worried about mold since I empty the drip tray and waste bucket every day. I do think about how much money I could end up spending on cleaning or descaling tablets, but I haven't had the unit long enough to tell how often it will prescribe those cleanings.

My purchase sticker says that it was made in Switzerland ... I'm in the US, so I'm not sure about units sold elsewhere.
