Hi all.... This is probably going to sound like a silly question but I'm fussy and it is bothering me.

Our fancy all singing all dancing LG direct drive washing machine has just given up the ghost after a disappointingly short life of 2 and a half years. Worst £600 ever spent.

Sick of having to replace washing machines every few years we've replaced the LG with a shiny new Miele W3228.

The fill hose on the LG was the standard grey rubber. Very stiff and hard.

The fill hose on the Miele almost looks to be steel braided, however I think it is some sort of plastic braiding coloured silver to look like steel.
Anyway the fill hose on the Miele is much softer than the one from the LG. It is much more flexible.

During installation the hose became twisted slightly and it kinked in the middle of the hose. The kink was maybe present for a total of 60 seconds.

My question is, Will this of caused any damage to the hose? It is impossible to tell visually due to the plastic braiding around the outside of the hose.

Afterwards I gently pinched along the hose with my fingers to try and 'feel' if it had made that section of the hose weaker in any way and the whole length of hose had the same amount of resistance to it. There are no bulges and our water pressure isn't terribly high living in the UK.

I'd just like some advice, I don't want to replace the hose for no reason if I'm worrying over nothing as it means having to take the front off the units again (the washer is hidden behind cupboard doors under the counter), and also the difficulty of dragging the washer out given the weight of it (Miele have built it like a tank!), but at the same time unless somebody puts my mind to rest I'll continue to worry!

Many thanks in advance

Well, no matter if it is WPS or WCS or WPM (more or less likley 1 or 2):
Just try it. You will know if it is broken and if it IS broken, try to call Miele and say: "It was like this." They'll be friendly and if this is to rude in your opinion, they probably will make it for free anyway...

Well the washer has washed multiple loads of washing so far and been fine. I just worry that in say 6 months time the hose will burst due to a weakness from where it was kinked. I'm sure I'll forget about it soon enough and find something new to worry over lol

As its a new hose ....

I would not worry about the kink they are made to withstand all sorts of twists etc as you were able to straighten it out again it should be fine after all some hoses kink behind the washer as its pushed under the worktop and can stay twisted for years.
So worry not and let the washer take the strain of wash day while you sit back and relax!!!

Thanks for the advice :)

Its a fantastic machine. Wish I'd invested in one years ago. Just oozes quality.

So much more decisive than the LG was. LG used to drain after the main wash and then spend 5 - 10 mins deciding if it was balanced enough to spin.

The Miele is spinning as soon as the wash water has drained away. And even if it is slightly off balance there are no vibrations or anything due to the build quality.

ahhh ...

thats miele for you, built like a tank!!

Our machine now does at least two loads for the past three years and still going extremely strong and not a thing about unbalanced loads.

We had a Lg dishwasher which we had given to my mother in law, after its first problem occured, we had it repaired, but that machine is just junk beacause it has seen in inside of the repairshop more than the inside of in law's kitchen.

So I can tell you this Mieles machines are really tough and they will look good in ten years time and I dont think that you will have to worry about that hose, they are really strong.

Regards,

Miele--Immer Besser. I am so happy for you. I love my Miele Schwestern. They sit side-by-side on their pedestals.

If you are able to turn off the water after each use, you won't have to worry about a sudden bustification when you are not around.
