Miele Spin Dryer

Hi all
Would anyone be able to help with a date or any info on my Miele Spin Dryer.
I found one after looking for nearly a year it game from a lady who was moving to a care home and her son was selling it, he remembered it being there when he lived at home but can't recall when she got it.

It works like new and I'm shocked at how much water it can remove after a 1600 spin in the Miele washer, its cut drying times by 1/2 most loads now dry in 25/ 35 minutes on low and with 10 mins of that as call down time the dryers only using heat for about 15 minutes. + its also cut down the wear on the washer as I now use the spinner for hand washing, rugs dog beds etc.

My wild guess it is from the 90's. I bought one in 1986 and that one still had the brown rim, handle and spout. Have you called Miele? They should be able to tell by the Fabr. Nr. how old this spinner is. Miele Nederland was very helpful with my Miele toploader.

What a beautiful find. Several years ago, there was one for sale on eBay here, but I could not determine the motor frequency and did not know if it would work here so I passed on it but I have always wondered about having one. I could not find any information on a 60 Hz model made for export.

I don't think Miele made these for the North American market. I think they were only sold in Europe. Since there is only a motor in it and no electronics, I bet it would work in 220V/60Hz.

Louis, Thanks. The only way I could have afforded one was the used one on eBay and it's gone. I just pictured buying it and ruining it and having to haul a smoking machine outside!

Wonderful Things, Spin Driers

After a vintage UK Frigidare one's other wish would be for an AEG, Miele or perhaps Bosch model.

No, none were ever designed for export to the USA (120v/60hz much less 220v/60hz) but as the power draw is so low don't see why a transformer wouldn't work. Of course the thing would spin about 10% faster which may damage the motor over the long run.

I'm no expert but I think the spin speed would just go up from 2800 - 3200 with no damage.

this is true

I imported an AEG spin dryer that is rated for 50 hz and I use it all the time.  Since there are no electronics, there are no issues other than running a bit faster than the 2800 rpm.  I just had to put on a new plug that works in our 220 15 amp circuit.

Methinks Modern Spin Dryers Sold In US

Are in fact the same as some others sold worldwide. Why? Because they extract at about 3200rpms, which as noted above is around 10% faster than the 2800rpms found on the other side of the pond.

Glad to hear an AEG would work on 220v/60hz. Really considered one on eBay.de or even a Miele but then a "Spin-X" type unit appeared on eBay so snapped that one up instead.
