Hey everybody hope this finds you well!

Got this miele dryer - Wondered if someone could shed some light on it - condenser box and filters are immaculate but it cannot complete a load with out getting immensely hot and tripping fuse! Opening the door steam billows out! Its like its blocked somewhere but it really isnt....dont recall clean airways light coming on...
Testing it with a couple regular towels (2kg?)

Sounds smooth as anything and not like the fan is trashed...

Was sold to me as fully working...the joys lol...

Anyway, thank you in advance you guys have helped save quite a few mieles so far! More to come 🙏

I'm not expert, but if it powers the heating element via a relay, the contact can become stuck "welded" on.

I would expect to run hot on a cold tumble setting if that's the fault.

And rapping the relay may break the welded contacts apart and get it working for a while.

"tripping fuse" - do you mean overloading a circuit breaker? Or blowing the fuse in a fused plug? Or earth leakage breaker?

I know nothing about that particular model, but a short circuit in the element could make the element run really hot and pull too many amps, thus tripping an overload breaker or blowing a fuse. (more likely if it is a wire coil element than a tube element.)

Also an element failure could be a short to earth (ground) which would trip the earth leakage breaker  (also called safety switch here in Australia) but that would not explain running hot.

If the fault is just running hot, a thermostat or temperature sensor fault?

These dryers run pretty hot regardless - talking 80C range at the beginning of the cycle.
They temper down a lot towards the end of the cycle. Mieles temp programming is quite complicated.

If it was overheating it would - usually - throw an error code.

A thing many don't realise is that filters like to get blocked by softner residue.
Give all the filters - especially those in the door rim - a good wash with soap, water and maybe a rinse with some vinegar.

If it trips the circuit breaker it is most likely a heater fault. But could many things...

I recently junked a 3xxx series dryer which would be about the same age. The capacitor on the line cord had failed and would cause it to trip the breaker, sometimes a few minutes in, sometimes 30 mins in.

It’s normal for these to billow steam when you open the door mid cycle.
