thank you for sharing! :)

I find Miele tab is quite effective with our super soft water here.... in fact I only need half a tab per load...

Ecover is not as good but still better than Cascade or Finish...

The best we can find here is Somat, and its also the most expansive... :(

Those claro tabs that come with the miele DW are 3-in-1 type (at least those in european models).

They have water softener inside, so they can etch your glasses. The miele glass-care system can't recover it as you water is extremly soft : no matter of the green light glowing, the machine can't mix softened/unsoftened water to achieve the proper hardness.... water is already too soft by itself

http://3-in-1 tabs aren't made for very soft water

Miele Tabs

No questio the best dishwasher detergent I have ever used. It is especially noticable with anything stainless, flatware, cookware, utensils. Very shiny and squeeky clean. Well worth the extra cost.

Claro...

...was the worst dishwasher detergent that German consumer report ever tested. The cleaning performance was awful. They will launch a new test soon so I'm looking forward to it so I can see if the results may have changed.

By the way: Somat 9 isn't as good as it claims to be. That boosted dryer-function does not work at all and I got the same cleaning results with my finish powder, so why should I pay a lot more when I can get the same result much cheaper?

I tried the Claro powder once because it was the only powder sold in a plastic bottle and it was cheap. Didn`t work very well for me, won`t buy it again. I think there is only one store in Munich that carries Claro products. Never seen it again somewhere else.

I love Somat in all variations. The "9er" tabs with the deodorizer have got a strong scent I didn´t like so I went back to "7".
It`s the only brand that gives me sparkling results without sudsing up like crazy. I`m a notorious pre rinser at least on smelly things because I only run the DW every other day. Guess this adds up to sudsing with most detergents.

I don't like Claro! It doesn't work well for my opinion. It does not dissolve properly. I think that even the cheapest store brand works better.

Yes, the German consumer magazine said the tabs were the worst cleaning detergent they tested in years. I second their result: I tried some and ended up with spinach residue in a coffee cup...

The Miele powder is great, though! But it's also quite expensive. Haven't tried the tabs.

I've been using various brands of detergent in the Bosch Logixx dishwasher, including Asda's liquid and tablets; Unilever's Sun tablets; Co-Op powder; Simply Dishwasher powder pods.

I noticed over a period of several months, that the steel interior of the dishwasher was becoming tarnished and taking on a gold tinge, as well as a blueish/gold coloured patch appearing on the floor - near the salt refill cap. Dishwasher cleaner had no effect on a cycle; neither did any of the above-mentioned detergents.

I was in Tesco to check out the new Finish 'Quantumatic', but could not justify the costs involved. I then spied the Finish lemon 'Quantum' tabs reduced to half price, so I bought a box to try, as they now have three enzymes in them.

I have to say that I was impressed. One wash later, the staining on the floor of the dishwasher was gone, and 50% of the gold tinge on the door and rear wall had disappeared; the steel pots and pans were gleaming. Then two nights later, the remaining tarnishing had vanished completely.

Maybe I should just stick to quality detergents?

I'm currently switching between three dishwasher detergents i currently have... Fairy Platinum tablet thingies, £1 shop clean n fresh tablets and imported Calgonit citus powder in a box.... Have to say they are all good, and the £1 shop tablets actually out clean the fairy tablets, remove stains better, more heavy duty on baked on food and actually gets egg off spatula's which the fairy cant!

Give them a go if you have a £1 shop near by, see what you think!!

Clean 'n' Fresh tablets.

I think I've seen them in 'Semi-Chem' (small store chain). Some/most of the shop brands used to be made by McBride, but I think that changed over the past few years.

I did notice that the Asda Liquid and tablets that I mentioned, had a reference to information at "Wilkinson dot something-or-other".
