Miele W & D pair W3033 / T8003 $500

Low mileage, I'm tempted.
What is the consensus in regards to these machines?
They would not be daily drivers btw.
For small loads and those times when the SQ is waiting for a new motor board to be installed.

Wow that was quick...I did not. It has been very stormy and rainy here and didn't think I had to worry.
It was a good deal considering they were only 3 years young. I like the smaller size, We only really fill our 3.4 cubic ft FL SQ machine when we do all the bedding. And these Mieles would have fit in my wagon.
I have the Maytags as backup in the garage which would have needed to be sold, but the Mieles would have been much better. I even just found the bases being sold for them from a different party.

At $500 and 120v for the washer?

Roads would have to be washed out and or floods of biblical proportions before that lot didn't sell at once. *LOL*

The picture shows a few red flags. Is one foot of the dryer missing? And what about the mold next to the washer?

A missing dryer foot wouldn't put one off, it could be replaced for very little money.

As for mold around washer, you should have seen the state of door boot on mine when it arrived. That God one ordered a new one before installer arrived. Thing was laden with mold along interior, and torn.

Again a very lightly used Miele set for $500? Would take something like bearings or other major issue to put me off.

Ok just rode up here to "The OC" to pick up these SS mieles for...wait for it, $400!
And the owner had two sets used in tandem (of which I could pick between)...so presumably less wear.

But i passed. These machines have received no visible care other than copious amounts of tape to keep up with the various pieces breaking off. I pulled the plug on the deal when the "brother" broke the front plastic kick plate from the dryer when we lifted it off the washer. I also saw lint bursting out of every seam and thought better of going this route right now.

These machines have a lot of flimsy bits many of which were already broken on these two. AND the shipping rods were long gone, and it was going to be a very tight squeeze (but probably doable) getting these in the back seat of my S420.

In other news the FOURTH motor board for my SQ FL has been shipped and the tech comes tomorrow to fix it...yet again. We got about a dozen loads done this time around. New thread on all that coming later this weekend.

Shipping struts

Years ago when acquired my W1070 had to purchase shipping braces from Miele. As one can imagine they were not cheap. Parts department remarked they sell quite a few of such parts.

Asked tech support why so many owners of Miele washers seem not to have the shipping braces and was told that usually the installers take and throw them away. This rather than asking (and strongly suggesting) that owners should keep the things in case they plan on moving machine later on.

Miele has some racket it seems on these shipping braces. Some chose to simply move a washer without, but YMMV. Read one account online of someone basically sitting down and weeping because they moved a rather nice and nearly new W1918 without braces. You guessed it; during transport a sharp movement caused the drum to violently shift against the cabinet.
