Miele W1 stacking hit - seems very flimsy

I've just ordered a couple Miele machines for a refurb of part of my house and I'm fairly surprised at the flimsy stacking kit that just arrived. I was expecting some kind of solid device which would have a pull out drawer.
Instead, it seems to be a piece of plastic with probably the most unintuitive instructions I've ever seen where various bits have to be broken out.

Also it looks like you have to screw directly into the plastic frame of the top of the washing machine leaving holes?! It says in the instructions if you remove the stacking kit, you need to order a new lid for the machine or seal the holes with permanent sealant as otherwise the machine would not be sealed and safe to operate!?

Is this the same Miele ?!!?!

I'm stacking a WKG 120 TwinDos and TKG 640 WP dryer. (yet to be delivered - the stacking kit came first)

That had always been the case... There is a stacking kit with drawer, but its more expensive and probably not more stable.

The only purpose is to ensure that the dryer wont fall of the machine if any abnormal vibration occurs, which is highly unlikely anyway. People have been stacking machines for ages without stacking kits, and barely ever has something gone wrong.
Sealing the holes or ordering a new lid is verry much a good idea. These machines should be splash resistent by IPx4 standard (I think, or it was the 5 that ment splash resistent, learned that for an exam a few weeks ago). Imagine accidently spilling a bottle of softner or such, which would spill tgrough the holes and damage some (verry expensive) electric component. Laundry areas aren't the least likely places for spillages by their nature...

The more surprising thing: Isn't that model without PowerWash 2.0? TwinDos is "just" another dosage system, but PowerWash 2.0 is a completly new way of laundty care. And a recirc is always a great improvement in terms of wash and rinse results!
If I had a choice, I'd give that priority over dosing systems.

To be honest, having used PowerWash 1.0, PowerWash 2.0 wasn't really something I was that worried about. The machine came in at the right price and gets pretty good reviews.

Just had a look at the order again, it's actually the wrong machine! Good thing I posted here.. Didn't realise it had absolutely no recirculating action. I'll just tweak the order before it ships, price difference isn't all that big.[this post was last edited: 2/13/2017-10:10]

Different stacking kits

So, I just checked, there are 3 different Miele stacking kits:

- One is just a frame, about 60€ in price
- One is with a pull-out tabletop kind of thing, about 120€
- One is a drawer, about 230€

All prices are from the Miele Germany website. Maybe you can return the one you have and reorder the one that suits your needs better.

Given you have TwinDos and thus don't need detergent bottles handy all the time, I'd opt for the work surface one, just to either fold laundry straight from the dryer or to place a basket on to make unloading the dryer easier.

I checked it out further, they don't have the pull out shelf option for the W1 / T1 stack. The only options are the simple kit I have or the full drawer which is complete overkill. I don't want to increase the height of the stack either and don't need the storage.

when i bought my WMV960WPS miele people strongly recommended the use of a stack between the washer and the dryer. i was reluctant as my washer and dryers never had stacking units to connect them but after seeing how the washer behaves during spin i well understood he was right. new miele machines have very little if nothing to do with the older miele machines. mine never makes a balanced spin and it shakes like a flamenco dancer. it doesn't move just because it is very heavy. if i could get back i would never buy miele w1 series washers and dryers.

is cheapening their products now? Why spend the extra money? They are very expensive here in the USA.

Hello this is the most expensive model and it costs 2400€ but you can buy the basic for more or less 800€. i wouldn't say the products are cheaper , they stll have steel tubs (except top loaders) but sure they do not share anything with the older models. it seems that a completely new team of engineers designed them. the appearance is quite ugly (samsungish i would say). the old dear metal porthole has gone so the sides enamel. the detergent drawer got full of mold even if i never used it. i cleaned it three or four times in a year but it ha recesses quite nasty to clean and mould comes back in few days. it worse if you leave an empty cap for let s say a night in the drawer. the machine decided for itself the washing path and the number of rinses. after my complaints the service man came and disabled all the fuzzy functions so now it (almost) does what i want. mine has a 9 kg drum but you'll never arrive to pack it with 9 kg of dry laundry. last but not least spin usually is very imbalanced and the drum shakes violently making noises preventing the over night use. it also results in a reduced spin speed. the only good thing about this washer is the washing ability and the twin dos system. i always had miele domestic appliances ( i had five washer and two dryers prior to these) and never a complaint. the dryer is even worst. it has a special ability to wrinkle things and wind large items. since it rotate mainly in one direction if you try to dry sheets you'll find them rolled in a tight pack with the inside still moist.
