I thought I would start a new thread since the old one's original topic and washer dryer combo I was getting no longer apply. I've decided to also order the matching dryer so I can save $180 with shipping it seperately later on. They gave me an additional $100 off my order as well for combining them, for a scary grand total of $3448.00. I did already inform my partner of the splurge so he won't slaughter me when he returns from out of the country in March 2010.

I'm pretty excited as anyone would be for a new pair of Mieles! Can't wait. I got a hold of the service manuals for both the washer and the dryer from a friend, and boy are these machines cleaverly designed! I'll update again once I have some photos of them in their new home. My friend Brock is buying the current LG set I have from me, and they have been good performers but definately won't compare to the replacements on order.

Now for that rotary iron... ;-)

Delivery

Between the 24th and 26 is the estimated delivery. I'll have more information once the order processes and the delivery company is assigned - they are shipping from New Jersey. Since I also supplemented my order to add in the dryer, they went ahead and cancelled the original order and issued a new order so I could get the $100 discount, and free $80 shipping on the dryer for ordering the set. Not sure if that sets me back a few days or not, but for the discount I got I can't complain.

I think I'm going to finish drywalling the celing and painting my laundry room since I have a few weeks to kill it looks like.

Argh, Andrew, I'm ever so jealous! There's a W1918/T1515 set here in Portland on Craigslist for $500. I want them so bad I really feel like pitching a national fit about it, but I have neither the truck to haul them nor the extra space to put them. (My partner already made it clear that we're not disposing of our current KitchenAid Ensemble pair.)

My name is David, and I have Miele envy. :)

ironer

Hi Andrew,
once we had the ironer. Back in those times we had a lot of flatwork in hour household so it was very useful. Now 20 years later things have changed, no more need of it for just some sheets and few table linens. miele say it can be used for shirts ... Tshirts, of course. Dress shirts are ironed faster with an iron

Anyway if you will load permapress and linen clothes the same way in the first pic in this thread, you can be sure you'll nearly forget about ironing

Thanks!

Hi David - thanks! I am so excited, it's almost a dream. I never thought I'd get a set while in this house, we had discussed it later on if we built a new home but I pushed and finally got my way ;-)

I was merely kidding about the $2000 rotary iron. Iron's are about as boring as my can opener. ;-)

I'll take some detailed photos of the set once they arrive so everyone can see. Not sure that there are many unboxing photos of Miele washers and dryers, so I'll be detailed in my photography on the grand event!

"Iron's are about as boring as my can opener"

Hi Andrew now having purchased your dream team that statement cannot possibly be true!!!Lol....not with a Miele Ironer anyway!!See what you guys mean about the prices, you could have your ironer as well for that price here!!!

Glad to see you have got the vented dryer, much less hassle than the condenser etc!! Heres the Miele Ironer being put through its paces by Robert at Gregs a few years ago!!! Andy (seated) has a Miele franchise and brought it along for us to try out!!..

Only $500.00

Silly, you can rent a truck and a hand truck. Just remember to put the shipping braces back in the washer before moving it. Storage is simplified since you can stack them. They work as end tables or TV stands also. My heavy old Sony sits on an ASKO dryer and there is no sign of metal fatigue yet.

ROTARY IRON?!

For heaven's sake, don't give him any more ideas...

Andrew, I hope the washer has a large-capacity drum, because you know you're gonna end up sleeping in it... ;)

Working Hard

Well I've been busy working in the basement finishing some of what was never finished when the house was built. I've insulated the celing, rerouted the electrical from the metal conduit that was attached to the bottom of the floor joists. The celing is now ready for drywall. I've built a cubbie which hides the sump pump (but still has a service door for inspection and maintenance if the pump ever fails), and it also has a cubbie with a light to store all of my laundry products. Here is a sneak peak of my DIY :-) It's like prepping a baby room for a newborn... the Miele's are on their way!

Drywalling is not done yet, I've got to get my butch friend over to help do the celing. I've also built a wall 1 foot out from the back wall in the basement which has all of the unsightly plumbing, water lines, shutoffs etc. I'll be installing a countertop and enclosure for the Miele's with accent lights in the overhead. Laundry will be much more fun now!

Andrew

You will love your Miele's, although for the 1st couple of weeks you won't get anything done ( if you are anything like me) as the wash rythmn's are very entertaining! You'll have great fun getting to know your machines.

Paul.
