Miele water hardness cover

Hello everyone,
I was looking through my dishwasher owners manual, and I noticed I am missing the cover that goes over the hardness selector inside the tub. It safe to run the dishwasher like this?

Hey guys I need a little help. Does anyone have a G series Miele dishwasher? I need a pic of what the cover over the water hardness selector inside the dishwasher looks like. I ordered a part from Miele and it came as a round ring instead of some sort of cover.
