This information came from another thread, and if true am very sad to hear it. Mike repaired/rebulit two Thor GladIrons for me, and was a invaluable source of vintage appliance knowledge.

I saw the same comment on another thread and called his partner Keith earlier. He had been fighting cancer for the past couple years. I didn't know him well, but since I work with fridges, I had become email pals. I went to see him earlier this year and was overwhelmed by the knowledge that I will likely never have. Remember to show your little tricks to the younger collectors or the knowledge will die with you.

Before I first spoke with Mike, I was shocked that I could hardly find one guy in St. Louis that knew that so2 was a refrigerant.

May he rest in peace. I will miss him and I'm sure others will too.

At the risk of sounding horribly vulgar, does anyone know of other people who restore refrigerators? I hate to think of the knowledge lost when a restorer passes on.

How sad!

Mike was a great guy. He sold me my first vintage range, and it looked like it was right off the showroom floor.
