Hey Guys,

Picked up some interesting mixer bowls recently and wondered if anyone could shed some light... The first pic is a matched set that are unmarked. I'm diggin' the concentric ribs. Any idea what these may have gone to?

The second is a Glasbake for Sunbeam, but what caught my eye was the light printing on the bottom (look in the upper right corner). "Substandard" Can't say I've seen that before. There's also no circular ridge on the bottom to keep the thing on the mixer base. Odd.

I know! Ii know! I know!

The matched set are for a Hamilton Beach - they would fit models G,H, and K (50s and 60s models) but will also fit the later models from the 70s as well.
The Sunbeam is probably from a Model 7B or 9 Mixmaster but it would also fit the 3B and 5B models as well as the Models 1,3,5, and 7 (although these models would have been originally equipped with a green 'jadeite' bowl).
Hope this helps!!

All of those mixer bowls are fabulous bowls to just "have around". We have a bunch of orphan bowls... They're great for chips/popcorn/fruit salad, etc, etc...

Robert used the big and small bowls from a HB (like those) for his dog's bowls -- large for water, small for food. I thought that was a cute idea. :-)

I think the missing ridge Cory mentioned is probably why it's substandard. Still a great mixing bowl.

There was no ridge on large Sunbeam bowls up until the change in bowl shape for the 'bowl fit' beaters. The turntable and bowls were a different shape. Early turntables only had an indentation for the small bowl with the larger bowl 'cupped' in the outer edges of it....

So large bowls for early model mixmasters up to US model 10 would have no ridges underneath.....

Those are nice HB bowls, I like the sizes. I see orphan bowls at sales all the time, Don (jetaction) and I have a habit of matching up parts and pieces with their respective mates at estate sales - just to re-order a small part of our universe I suppose.

GE had some very beautiful bowl designs, some of my favorites. I try to limit my bowl-impulses now to just Mixmaster bowls in good condition as it would be easy for me to fill the shelves with bowls of all kinds and I sort of already have... I like bowls :-)
