Mixer: Hamilton Beach model H

I just got this mixer at an estate sale today -- plus the complete juicer attachment, but minus the bowls. Can anyone tell me about the bowls?

A good mixer

Peter, that is essentially the same as the Sears CounterCraft mixer I have. I got it for my Mom in the mid-80's, and it's the chrome model. Mine has large and small bowls of stainless steel. They are a footed style to fit in the turntable. Glass bowls were also available for these mixers. Sorry I can't provide any pics.

Thanks for the info. I figured they would have to be footed to fit the grooves. Maybe they were Fire-King or Pyrex? I went thru all the cabinets at the sale looking for them, but nothing turned up.

I also found the grating/slicing cones for a KA mixer, but that wasn't there either. The pitman transmission Maytag washer and matching dryer were already sold. But I did score a Cuisinart DCL-7 Super Pro real cheap!

Hamilton Beach by Pyrex

The bowls are 3 quart and 1 quart, white with 3 ribs at the top. They say Hamilton Beach on the bottom and when new had a red sticker from Pyrex. If you need a set I have them.

The correct mixing bowels for the Hamilton Beach Mixers are threaded at the bottom to easily fit the grooves in the turntable.I have both the stainless steel set and the Glassbake set for my HBs. I also have the three beater GE as well as the old 1954 Westinghouse. All with the bowels included. I use the GE more than the others and the HB for bigger,thicker batters.I prefer the clear,see through glass Glassbake or Pyrex bowels because they allow you to see the edge in case there's some unmixed ingredients stuck on there.Those who know me well enough also know that I -----------

Hamilton Beach Model HCT

I like using my HB model H as well. My mom received a white one from my dad the year I was born. The neighbor down the street got one a few months earlier. All mom wanted was portable at the time since their first home had such a small kitchen. That mixer survived my sister and learning to bake as well. We never broke a bowl or bent a beater. Alway wanted the attachments, little did I know that Sunbeam had a better juicer and safer power unit-grinder configuration. Except for Sunbeam's juicer, it is tough to beat Kitchenaid's attachments

Mom had a Sunbeam mixer. We used the juicer attachment more than we used it as a mixer!

What is up with the mixer beater "assembly"? Does it prevent tangling?

Beater Assembly

Not sure what you mean by tangling. The bar down the front of the assembly is a guard. Earlier models had one on the back as well. It is possible for this beater to chop nuts in a batter. Beaters of this design are more difficult to clean than beaters of other mixers. The timer is a nice feature too.

you got a deal for 0.99cents BUT I am selling mine after comparing it to the Mixmaster. Hands down MM is light years ahead in my opinion. That guard bar is such a mess! When creaming butter and sugar it causes all of it to lump up in the beater bars and so you have to take the beaters off and poke out all the butter between the blades! Never happens with my Sunbeams!!

Maybe you will have better luck, keep us posted when you start making cakes with it.

Decoration only at this point. The cobalt KA monster is still my first choice.
