I have a friend who has a vintage chrome Sunbeam Mixmaster. It's just the power plant and stand, he's missing the bowls and beaters. I noticed this add on CL for a more modern chrome Mixmaster... I'm sure the mixer itself is junk (and it's missing the stand), but do any of you know if the beaters/dough hooks, and bowls would fit the vintage machine?

Thanks

Here's a link to the add so you can see what I'm talking about.

good to know

Thanks. Do you know of a good source where I can find some beaters/hooks that would fit? Ebay perhaps?

I swore by Southern Electric for Sunbeam parts. They're downtown near Southeast Steel. On the same street(Amelia) but closer to the covention center.I took many a Mixmaster there for parts and service. If you enter off cColonial,It's about three blocks down on the right.

Am I that old...

I can't wrap my mind around either of these two mixers being "vintage." I know they are, but it's hard for me to accept. When I think of Vintage and Sunbeam I think of a 30s Model with Jadite bowls not the model my sister got as a wedding present in 1967. LOL!

A great resource is Phil at mixerfixer.com. He also restores them. He's done three for me and they come back like the day they left the factory. He does great work.

Mixfinder???

Didn't we have a member named Sandy whose alias here on AW was "Mixfinder?" As I recall he was from the Pacific Northwest. I don't see any profile for him anymore. Does anyone know what happened to him? He'd have the bowls in question, I am sure.

I have my grandmother's more modern plastic MixMaster with glass bowls. The largest and the smallest survived the shipping down here, but the medium one did not. Does anyone have the sizes of each bowl?

Hi Peter, are you sure that there was a medium size bowl, that is something I have never seen or heard of. Could it possibly been a bowl for something else? Hope you are doing great, it has been way to long since I've seen you!! Terry

You must be talking about Kelly Beard, not me. Last I heard, Kelly was doing okay, but he had health issues that were taking up some of his time.

Anyone wanting mixer parts and advice should join WACEM (We Actually Collect Electric Mixers) on Yahoogroups. It's a discussion group, and there are plenty of people there who know exactly what parts go with what mixer. Just go to www.yahoogroups.com and search on "WACEM", without the quotes.

Bobby you can find Sunbeam bowls and beaters by the dozens at nearly every thrift store on the planet so long as you know what they look like. If it's a real metal chrome mixer you have it's probably the model 12, it it's more like plastic chrome then it's an MM model but bowls and beaters fit both. The chrome mixers usually came with stainless steel bowls but the clear glass ones will fit as well.
The two beaters for the Sunbeam do not look identical, the one that sits closest to the bowl is more oblong shaped and has a little button on the bottom that rests on the bottom of the bowl, the beater that fits more near the middle of the bowl is more square shape. If you look at the underside of the mixer where the beaters go in there should be a diagram as to which beater goes in which hole.

Hey Terry,

Oh yes, there was defintely a medium bowl. The large bowl is HUGE -- I use it mostly for popcorn!

I just picked up an early model at an estate sale this weekend. I tried so hard to pass it by, but it jumped into my basket. Found the usage booklet in another part of the house, so now I need to oil it and take it apart and check the grease.
Pics to come.

Thanks Peter, to my knowledge I have never seen the medium size mixer bowl but then maybe I have and didn't realize it. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your new find.
