I found this at a thrift store today for $4.00. It works and is very quiet. I don't think the bowl is correct and it is missing the beaters, but I felt I just couldn't leave it for that price. It is a model 11. What kind of beaters did it have and where is the best place to find them? If anyone has any tips for cleaning it up and possibly replacing the cord, please let me know.

Oh, I love the model 11s! I have 'em in all the colours.. LOL

There were yellow bowls that would have gone with this mixer originally and they can still be found on eBay or other thrift stores. However, the white, chrome, or clear bowls that will fit this model will likely turn up first.

The beaters from a model 10 will also fit the model 11; I have used model 12 beaters on a model 11, but they just didn't seem to 'fit' as nicely. The beaters do turn up also and your local small appliance repair shop may just have them.

If you need a set of the white bowls for this mixer urgently, please contact me by email. I have 100s... No, really... LOL

For the offer on the bowls, but I found a clear set here that works. Going to start looking for beaters and a way to replace the brittle cord. It seems to be hard wired in. Wish it was just
a simple plug in type cord.

Don't forget to give it a some oil.. There are 3 oiling holes on the top of the body,, one is hidden under the handle so you  have to slide the handle down to the unlocked position to see it, the second is fairly close to the first under the handle,, there's another one at the rear near the dial.. only 2 drops max of sewing machine oil down each.. as well as a couple of drops down the PTO

Cord Replacement!

It is EASY!, take the access plate off the bottom, splice on a new cord put it all together and you are done, A great mixer!You can even buy new decals for these, just look up Sunbeam on ebay.

Vintage mixer bowls are one of the easiest things to find. Just about every thrift store in N.America has a set on their shelves,, mostly Sunbeams, but quite often Hamilton Beach and Westinghouses as well... Very easy to spot in amidst all the other glass bowls once you recognize them. 

 

They're probably the second most common thrift store item after the infamous red WestBend electric  Wok   LOL

Cord

I took the access plate off the bottom to see where the cord was wired in. It looks a little difficult to me. When you said splice the cord, did you mean to cut the cord off near the end and wire in a new one or do I need to remove the screws and put a new cord on? Will any electrical cord from an old appliance work?

That may be a Sunbeam mixer, but the bowl appears to be a Hamilton Beach. Check the bottom and see what it says.

Yeah. I knew the bowl was not original, but didn't know what it came from. Thanks for letting me know. Going to work on replacing the cord tonight.

When I ..

Change the cord, I take off the little access plate, then take all of the old cord out, splice the new cord to the wires coming out of the motor, tape them well with scotch brand electrical tape..it is better than any other, put the cover back on, you are done.

The cord was very easy to repair. Thanks for your help. I used an old stick vac cord to repair it. It works very well now. Going to search for beaters this weekend.

Amazon.com has replacement beaters.  I bought a pair for my pre-war model 5 when my other half bent the old ones with hard butter.  They may not be quite exactly identical to the originals but they'll get you by until you find originals.

Does anyone out there have a potato/apple peeler for a mixmaster? I have a few machines, a pair of 12s, an 11, a really tired 10 and a 7. I would love to use one for peeling apples for pies.

Also, is there a rebuild guide anywhere on the 'net? I use my Chrome 12 regularly but some of the other machines are slow to come up to speed, or leak oil/grease. I want to find out how to rebuild them.

Beaters

I found a set of beaters at thrift shop for 50 cents. I also found a NIB Royal Prince Hand Vac for $4.

I have an old Mixmaster. I did what you said to do with the oil and it runs just wonderful now. Where to you look to find the model number? I assume the rounded bottomed beater goes against or near the side of the bowl and the one that is flatter goes sort of in the middle? Thanks, Gary

Beaters and model numbers

Beaters

The round bottomed beater goes on the side closest to the bowl, that is, with the mixfinder dial on your right and the bowls facing left, the round beater is furthest away.

Model nummbers

These are usually found on the mixer body where the connection to the stand is. Raise the mixer head and it should be on the mixer body between the bracket.
