started to give the modern maid impeller roto rack dishwasher a tune up today. got this from the church when i visited matt (everythingold) several weeks ago. this is my first impeller machine and i was anxious to see how it was built.
i watched this machine in action the day i took it out of the church and even with the broken impeller peices it really moves the water!
i don't plan on ever using this machine to wash dishes as i'm afraid to break impeller more than it is. this one will be a conversation peice only. but i am going to test it this week when i get it back together.
but uses that extended tube that the impeller slips over. there is a rubber boot at the top that the motor shaft slides thru to help keep any water out of motor shaft/tube area.
there is another larger diam rubber ring near the bottom of the tube that acts as a water baffle also.
note the drain pump and the large rubber tube that connects from the tub to the pump. this was very dirty and brown in color and i soaked it ans scrubbed on it till it looked much better!
motor, fill solonoid, water pressure switch and drain pump.
this is the only dishwasher i have ever run across that has a full size metal plate or pan that sits under the motor and connects to all 4 of the legs.
normally i would take it off but the drain pump mounts to it and i don't want to disturb it's originality. i mean it was designed with it so i have to keep it. i did take it off today to get motor out however.
note the drain tube that the rubber connector clamps to. it had a bit of rust on the end so i got out my wire brush and drill, some sand paper and my rustoleum primer.
