creepy...

Orville died in 1995, and here he is 12 years later in a new commercial...
I saw him in person once, in the popcorn festival parade in Valparaiso Indiana, maybe 1982?

About the above commercial, Wikkipedia has this to say:

"On January 15, 2007 during the Golden Globe Awards, an advertisement featuring a digital re-creation of Redenbacher appeared on TV for the first time. It was the first time a digital representation of a deceased individual appeared that could be made to say and do anything. Gary Redenbacher, responding to questions about how he felt about the advertisement stated that "Grandpa would go for it. He was a cutting-edge guy. This is a way to honor his legacy."[1]"

I was always a little suspicious of Orville...

... there was just something kinda creepy about him. Mr. Rogers too, for that matter.

Ok every time I come into this thread I see Joe's EMPTY post at the top. Could someone *please* explain to me what is going on here? LOL

On'y fools don't see the emporer's clothing. Yo

But this does help explain Jeff and Charles' post.
And probably ours to the ones who CAN see an embedded YouTube video or a linkie... HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Always was great popcorn in my book.........

If you can get beyond his "image" then it still is great popcorn. I stopped buying microwave stuff after my uppity sister sent me this stove-top popcorn popper with a handcrank. Now it's even better. Movie theatre quality.

Thankfully no one tore anyone to shreds based on this very weired event and seemingly weird posts!

I never meant to hijack this one, I simply don't see the video! Neither at home, nor at work!

Internet settings?

Gary at work the internet is kinds F**KED up, some sites are just plain blocked, such as you tube.
When I open this thread at work, I see the top post as blank, here at home(where almost anything goes) I see the embedded player and file.

Maybe Robert can explain the difference?

Me either at home, I'll have to look at work. All I see is a blank post, and I've even scrolled all over to see if the arrow would turn into a finger, and it doesn't. Pa.

I do remember seeing Orville Redenbacher commercials. Occasionally I'll do some microwave corn, but I prefer to make it in my Knapp Monarch electric popper.

*cluthes pearls* IT'S ALUMINUM. Gary why do you have this since you have a smooth-top. Will it work?

Got this while thrifting with GG in CT. It's a glass popper to hold popping corn for use in the m-waver.

So now I can use regular popping corn in the nuker, or in my air-popper. Coincidentlaly a gift from MY sister. *LOL*

Gary why do you have this since you have a smooth-top. Will

Yes Steve, it will work on my smooth-top. It is a Farmers Choice brand and states:

'The World's Best Stovetop Popcorn Popper'.

Guess we should try it at our next movie marathon(Ducks and runs)

oh my the picky picky picky Virgo comes out. MEOW!

I love how in the USA the "world" ends with Canada up and Mexico down. LOL

Flimsy aluminum without a disk (or even flat) bottom is "the best" (no offense please to owners of this toy).

What's wrong with a regular pot, shaken?

Gary, IMHO it is the best corn popper. Greg, (gansky1) uses one like this and he makes the best popcorn I have ever eaten. Glad to hear that it will work well on a smooth-top range.

yes, Gary. That's the one.

I think she got it from Williams Sonoma. I normally don't buy into all those 'bourgeois' catalog thingies, but this one works very well. (pronounced 'boorjwaah' but I only had one semester of
French so I don't remember how to spell it.)
